The Other Thans was formed to raise awareness and funds for the thousands of combat Marines and Soldiers ineligible for VA benefits. Imagine being able to provide benefits back to the men that actually fought in the field through Iraq & Afghanistan. Nearly 30,000 people that deployed to combat zones returned home with Other Than Honorable discharges and have been disbarred from all VA benefits, government positions, and police enforcement roles. With known associations between PTSD and drug use and little to no post-war counseling for combat Marines, it's no wonder many returning service-members turned to drugs to cope.
