Students leading the way for change! Alliance Collins Family College-Ready High School, Alliance Judy Ivie Burton Technology Academy High School, and Alliance Dr. Olga Mohan High School hosted a Youth Civic Conference at Los Angeles City Hall, welcoming students from 15+ high schools across L.A. County. With support from Councilmember Curren Price, Jr., students participated in workshops, debates, and discussions with state candidates. Keynote speaker Jose Ugarte shared insights from his experience leading 500+ political campaigns. Scholars honored Councilmember Price for his 10+ years of mentorship and advocacy. A historic moment for South Central LA and our #OneAlliance community was there to witness it! On March 9, 2025, Assemblymember Sade Elhawary was officially sworn into office outside her district office at the Wallis Annenberg Building in Expo Park—surrounded by the very community that raised her. Alliance team members, families, and scholars were proud to attend and celebrate this powerful example of leadership rooted in love, equity, and public service. From cultural performances to inspiring words from local leaders, it was a day that reminded us: when one of us rises, we all rise.
