Legislation to extend the FICA tip tax credit to the beauty industry has been reintroduced by Representatives Darin LaHood (R-IL) and Suzan DelBene (D-WA) as H.R. 2603. Since bills must be reintroduced each Congress, we need your help to rebuild our cosponsor list and surpass the 50 cosponsors we secured last session. The 45B FICA tip tax credit provides a dollar-for-dollar credit for the employer’s share of FICA taxes on tips. Employers do not receive any portion of tipped earnings, yet they bear the financial burden of paying FICA taxes on them, limiting their ability to further support employees. This credit has been available to the service industry since 1993, and the 2025 tax package presents the ideal opportunity to address this longstanding inequity in the tax code.
