Wisdom of the Elderberry Farm

Elderberry Wisdom | Native American Nonprofit | Salem Oregon

Committed to Native American health and wellness resiliency by reconnecting project participants to their Oldest Grandmother, the earth. Wisdom of the Elderberry Farm is a 501(c)(3) formed in 2019. Located south of Salem in rural Marion County, it is being developed to grow Native elderberries (Sambucus cerulea) along with a number of other Native plant species. Volunteers are welcome. Elderberry Wisdom Farm provides holistic workforce opportunities for Native Americans pursuing meaningful conservation career pathways, including microenterprise business development. We also provide opportunities for Native Americans, communities of color and public audiences to increase awareness and understanding of traditional ecological knowledge along with the rich cultural heritage of America's First Peoples. Committed to diversity, equity and inclusion for all, we feel this strengthens appreciation and respect for the wisdom and knowledge of Native American elders, cultural leaders and indigenous scientists.
