Family Involvement Center | Emotional, Physical and Behavioral Healthcare Support
Non-profit agency that provides support to families raising children with emotional, physical, and/or behavioral health challenges. Mission - To provide assistance and support to parents and caregivers raising children with emotional, physical, and behavioral health needs.
Vision and Goals - The vision at Family Involvement Center is healthy, resilient children and families who are valued and involved in shaping their own care, as well as programs and policies impacting children's services. Our goals for the children we serve are that they will live with their families, avoid delinquency, succeed in school, and become productive adults. We support and measure these goals by empowering parents, strengthening youth, educating communities, and connecting families.
Our Staff - We believe that parents who have raised children with emotional, physical, and behavioral health challenges themselves are best able to help other parents in the same situation. We offer a number of programs to this end, such as direct services for parents, kids and families, a warm line parents can call to talk to experienced parents, and education and training opportunities for families, parents and kids. All of our programs and services are led by parents, trained Parent Partners, who have raised their own children with special needs.
We also train service providers and other agencies throughout the United States. We teach them how to include parents and build infrastructures that will sustain family involvement in their systems of care. Considered experts on Parent-to-Parent support, FIC is helping other parts of the country develop a model that research has shown works.
Family Involvement Center helps individual families and children directly, but it also serves us all with a broader vision - an effective system of care that helps parents get services that will help their children, thus helping those children overcome or live productively with the challenges they face.
