Founded by renowned HIV/AIDS pioneers, GHESKIO was the first institution in the world dedicated to the fight against AIDS. GHESKIO is widely recognized for implementing and evaluating effective strategies for the treatment of HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases. By Haitians and for Haitians, GHESKIO provides comprehensive health services free of charge, giving patients the care, knowledge, and support they need to regain their health and become productive, engaged members of their community. GHESKIO serves over 120,000 patients each year.

Despite innumerable challenges GHESKIO has never closed its doors. On the Frontline GHESKIO Rapid Response to Haiti Humanitarian Crisis Despite the violence and chaos with 80 of health clinics closed GHESKIO stands as one of the few healthcare providers still operational in PortauPrince.
