Overview
OurTism is a U.S. nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting autistic individuals and their families. Founded by autistic individuals for autistic individuals, it emphasizes the importance of lived experience in designing and providing its services.
Mission and Values
OurTism's mission is to empower autistic individuals to lead purposeful and harmonious lives. The organization values the expertise of individuals with firsthand experience of autism, believing that they are best placed to understand and address the community's needs. This event is dedicated to those who participated in our social programming over the years. OurTism is founded by autistic adults who knows what it's like. Socializing is difficult for a vast amount of reasons when you're autistic. A sense of community is important, especially when your experience is not common. Our social events have always meant to bring a sense of community, belonging, safety in social settings and of course most importantly a time to have fun and be yourself. Your authentic autistic joy always has a place at OurTism. We have done exclusions including bowling, picnics, hiking, and movies. Our most popular events have always been our hangouts. OurTism hangouts take place in our den. The den is set up to look like a living room where you can eat, pull games off the shelves to play, and chat with friends. We invite you- our clients to return to our den for one last Hangout. Autistic adults are welcome to join OurTism's last Hangout before our doors close. This event is free.
