‼️ Quill update: ‼️ We were up all night waiting for the worst and chatting with vets. He has a habit of crashing constantly to where we think he is not going to make it and lots of tough decisions. However, he has held steady on blood sugar all night and his temp is in the normal range. He’s not out of the woods but NO CRASHING IN 8 HOURS!! It’s a plateau but we’re taking it as a small win for this little guy. Everyone was on edge all night waiting to see what happened. 🥺 Still no diagnosis. Testing all comes back unremarkable. This is by far the most curious case we’ve ever had. Usually we at least have an idea of what is wrong. C’mon little man! You’ve got this! ❤️ (fb)

‼️ Quill update: ‼️ Even with the extra dextrose, his blood sugar has dropped to the 80s which isn’t bad but he should be much higher. They said if he tanks again tonight, they’ll put a central line in. They are giving him double maintenance values of IV fluids and he’s now holding hydration levels. We spoke about the blood panel. They were able to run CBC but not organ as there wasnt enough blood and they dont want to drain him. His WBC is in a decent range which shows no infection and gives us zero answers, however, when I said I guess that rules out sepsis, she said he may have been septic and the antibiotics are solving it and he may be on an upswing but it’s impossible to tell. He is not suffering. He’s continuing to eat and wants attention. They agree he is wanting to fight. So we’ll continue the fight. If he is still in this same predicament by Monday, specialty internists will be added to his case to get a high detail ultrasound to see if this is congenital or if any organ is too small or too big. They wont be back until Monday. We’re currently at $3300. They agreed that we should keep fighting (and they’re transparent when it comes to an animal having no quality of life and should be euthed) since he is fighting and we have zero idea what is going on. But the team has spoken about maybe it was sepsis and we’re coming out of it but it takes time. He’s still fighting, so we’ll keep fighting. We don’t know what we’re fighting against, but we’ll keep fighting with him until he says it is time to stop. We wholeheartedly trust Blue Pearl with his care and appreciate their absolute transparency. There’s no sugar coating. Only matter of fact. And they have not said it’s time to stop, nor have they said he has stopped fighting. We have a team of specialists fighting against the unknown to give this boy his best chance at pulling through. ❤️ (fb)
