During our 2024 mission to Can Tho, Vietnam, dental hygienist Maureen Kelly and dentist Dr. Wei-Ling Chang joined us to provide essential oral care. From teeth cleanings and cavity fillings to tooth extractions, they treated several patients and took the time to educate families on the importance of oral hygiene for long-term health. Maureen and Dr. Wei-Ling also visited a school of dentistry, where they shared insights about AfS’s fieldwork and answered questions from aspiring dental professionals. At Alliance for Smiles, one of the greatest joys is watching our young patients thrive. We first met sweet Mayara in 2019 during our mission to Retalhuleu, Guatemala. Just four months old at the time, she underwent cleft lip surgery performed by our lead surgeon, Dr. Karl Wustrack. Fast forward to 2023 when our team returned to Retalhuleu and was delighted to reunite with Mayara for a follow-up procedure.
