INOCHI | Working to promote peaceful and sustainable societies

The Conversations with the Earth (CWE) California Campus Tour is a collaborative effort put together by: Conversations with the Earth, the California Student Sustainability Coalition and the World Affairs Council of Northern California-Sacramento Chapter INOCHI (meaning "life force" in Japanese) was founded in 1993 as an international environmental andeducational organization with focal points in North America (California), Japan, and the Pacific Islands workingto promote peaceful and sustainable societies. INOCHI also campaigns to promote non-violent resolution ofconflict, safe, clean renewable sources of energy, and to support a ban on the research, testing, production,deployment and use of nuclear weapons.INOCHI also works to support local communities and indigenous peoples' rights. INOCHI’s Board includes twointernationally known working visual artists who are also widely published writers, two non-professional visualartists both of whom also occasionally play in musical ensembles and who have also worked as journalists and apsychologist who focuses on personal development and conflict resolution from the individual to the societallevel, both locally and internationally. Given the talents and interests of the Board, from the very beginning,INOCHI projects have often combined some aspects of the arts (visual, musical, transformational) within itscampaigning for positive social change.
