STOCKBRIDGE BUSINESS ASSOCIATION'S MISSION IS TO GROW THE BRIDGE STREET AND STOCKBRIDGE BUSINESS DISTRICTS AND TO DRIVE COMMUNITY AND COMMERCE ON THE WEST SIDE OF GRAND RAPIDS.

Stockbridge Business Association

The Stockbridge Business Association is a nonprofit organization focused on promoting business growth and development in the West Side of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The association's mission is to connect local businesses and community stakeholders, fostering a vibrant and diverse business community that honors the area's history and culture.

History

The Stockbridge Business Association was established as part of broader community efforts dating back to the 1970s. During this period, the Community Development Citizens’ Committee (CDCC) identified significant challenges facing neighborhood business districts, leading to city funding allocations for the Stockbridge area. In 1979, a committee was formed to utilize these funds effectively, marking the genesis of organized business development initiatives in the region. Over the years, the association has evolved through collaborative efforts with various community groups, such as the John Ball Park Neighborhood Association and the West Central Business Association.

Objectives and Activities

The association aims to create a thriving neighborhood where all members have opportunities to prosper. It achieves this through networking events, professional development opportunities, and community engagement initiatives. Members are provided with platforms to present their businesses, share innovations, and collaborate on local projects.

Leadership and Membership

The Stockbridge Business Association is led by a dedicated leadership team that oversees its operations and strategic planning. Membership includes a diverse range of local businesses, organizations, and residents who support the community's economic and cultural development.

  • Community Engagement: Participation in a network of local businesses and organizations.
  • Networking Opportunities: Regular meetings and events for collaboration and professional growth.
  • Event Access: Complimentary registrations for select events hosted by the association.
