KHA is a non profit organization that focuses on prevention of homelessness in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Kalamazoo Housing Advocates is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit working to break the cycle of homelessness in Kalamazoo County, Michigan. Our focus is on prevention and ensuring that clients facing housing instability maintain their homes. In doing so, we provide tailored services to our clients that address the varied root causes of homelessness, including long-term, personalized assistance with life skills and connections to appropriate care for mental health and/or substance abuse disorders. Our mission is to support, educate and advocate with those who are unhoused and/or in housing that is unstable, in collaboration with landlords and community partners.

This week she shared insights on how poverty, homelessness, and housing insecurity directly impact health outcomes—and how advocacy can create real change. Sarah highlighted her work with the Housing Advocacy Collective and her experiences fighting for safe, affordable housing in Kalamazoo.
