Born into slavery, Chelor crafted exquisite planes, stamped “CE CHELOR”, that became highly sought after by collectors. Experience history firsthand by holding one of his original tools, preserved for 250 years, and celebrate his remarkable journey from bondage to craftsmanship. About the Presenter: Brian Murphy’s passion for history began at age eleven when he discovered artifacts in the woods of his New Jersey hometown. He believes that holding objects like Chelor’s handcrafted planes brings us close to the past and the lives of those who created them. When not exploring history, Brian enjoys painting watercolors and carving songbirds and decoys. He lives in Richmond, Virginia with his wife, Cindy. (fb)
