Arkansas participated in a national count of domestic violence services conducted by the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) on September 4th, 2024. The summary just became available showing the services provided in that 24 hour time period. We served 589 victims on that day across our state and didn’t have enough resources to meet 114 requests for help. With this information we can’t afford to take more cuts to funding that support victims of crime. We need the funding to provide more resources. We were honored to present Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders the ACADV Champion Award in person. She has been an ally to victim service providers throughout our state and to the Coalition. In 2024, after we faced significant federal grant cuts that threatened the financial stability of shelters, she allocated an additional $17 million in funding. Her intervention ensured that our domestic violence shelters could continue to serve as many victims as possible.
