The mission of Kipuka Kuleana Inc. is to perpetuate ahupuaa (traditional Hawaiian land division) based natural resource management & connection to place through protection and care of cultural landscapes and family lands. Kipuka Kuleana will fulfill this purpose through land protection, stewardship, and restoration, research, education programs for family land owners and community members, and educating policy makers.

Young Hena Fisherman 2009 On Kauai longtime families are losing connections to ancestral lands due to escalating land values rising taxes restricted access development pressure and other challenges that threaten identity and perpetuation of cultural practice across generations. Established in 2018 Kpuka Kuleana is a 501c3 Hawaii nonprofit organization and communitybased land trust that protects ancestral lands under threat and revitalizes relationships between people and ina lands and waters on Kauai. We strive to grow kpuka places of community caretaking and cultural restoration grounded in kuleana responsibility in every ahupuaa traditional land division from mountain to sea on Kauai.
