Founded by Lee Iacocca in 1984 in honor of his late wife Mary K. Iacocca who passed away due to Type 1 Diabetes complications the Foundation has since funded over 40 million in research projects offering new hopes to those affected by the disease. Although significant progress and scientific advancements in diabetes research many questions about the causes and complications of diabetes remain.
