Equity Through Literacy

We are a 501(c)3 org. We are two Latina educators on a mission to empower marginalized communities through literacy. Our mission is to empower marginalized families through literacy by providing collaborative, family-focused strategies to strengthen the connections between literacy and the community. We aim to provide parents and families with tangible resources to bridge the literacy gap that we see in our communities. As the pandemic has progressed and children have not been able to return to schools, we realized how the pandemic's inequities were harming children's education in a multitude of ways. During non-pandemic times, in low-income communities, the ratio of age-appropriate books is 1 for every 300 children. We set out on a mission to keep the literacy equity gap from growing. We've focused our efforts on getting high-quality books in the hands of children in vulnerable communities during this extended period.

Equity Through Literacy Empowering Communities Through Literacy We aim to provide parents and families with tangible resources to bridge the literacy gap that we see in our communities. We understand that the number one educator in our childrens lives is family. Because of this we believe in fostering parental involvement in organic reading practices in order to increase childrens onset literacy skills before the schoolage years and through their academic trajectory. PostCOVID19 we realized how the pandemics inequities were harming childrens education in a multitude of ways.
