Real Life Community Outreach

Real Life Community Outreach is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Selma, Texas. The organization focuses on providing compassionate assistance to Northeast San Antonio and the surrounding areas through various community programs.

Mission and Goals

The mission of Real Life Community Outreach is to serve the community with compassion, offering support and opportunities that empower individuals to improve their lives. It aims to partner with businesses, churches, organizations, donors, and volunteers to increase community impact and share practical help in the area.

Programs

Food Assistance: Real Life Community Outreach collaborates with the San Antonio Food Bank to distribute meals to those in need. It provides approximately 350-400 meals every week, increasing to around 600 meals on Saturdays when additional distributions occur. The organization is significant in its role as the largest distributor in the area for the San Antonio Food Bank.

Vocational Training: The organization offers vocational training to help individuals acquire skills necessary for employment. Courses include welding, HVAC, accounting, and forklift certification. These programs are structured to accommodate working individuals by offering classes on weekends and evenings. The goal is to assist people facing food insecurity and financial challenges by providing training that can improve their job prospects.

Clothing Distribution: In addition to food assistance, clothing distributions are also available to support those in need.

Kids Camps: Real Life Community Outreach also operates kids camps, which provide additional support in low-income neighborhoods.

History and Development

The core programs were initially started by volunteers at River City Community Church. As these programs grew, Real Life Community Outreach was established to allow for broader community engagement and partnerships.

Financial and Developmental Plans

The organization seeks to expand its services further and is currently raising funds for the construction of a 10,000 square-foot food warehouse, which requires approximately $2 million in additional funding.
