Kaua'i Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide. Habitat invites people from all faiths and walks of life to work together in partnership, building houses with families in need.In the fall of 1992, Hurricane Iniki struck the island of Kaua`i, destroying over 1,500 homes and severely damaging over 5,000. That was the precipitating event to start a Habitat for Humanity chapter here. Since its start in 1992, Kaua`i Habitat has built 100 affordable homes for Kaua`i families. Kaua`i Habitat for Humanity (KHFH) seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world - one house at a time here on Kaua`i - and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
