Strands of Compassion provides resources, guidance, housing and education assistance to help young women who have emancipated from foster care and, because of extensive trauma, are not equipped to successfully transition to adulthood. Strands of Compassion is led by dedicated trauma informed specialists certified through the Karyn Purvis Institute of Childhood Development at Texas Christian University specializing in Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). In addition, Strands of Compassion provides TBRI training to adults who work with or parent foster children so they can understand the effects of trauma and know how to best advocate for and help foster children and teens adapt and thrive.
