Rome Area Council for the Arts, Inc.
Arts Fundraising organization helping Rome City and Floyd County artists and organizations. Founded in 1976, Rome Area Council for the Arts was founded by a committee of the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce. During its thirty year history, RACA has developed significant programming in the visual, literary and performing arts. RACA's six areas of programming include: an annual performing arts series; an annual children's performing arts series, including some residencies; a series of gallery exhibits; a series of poetry and prose readings; outreach arts programs to senior citizen centers and mental health facilities; and artist education through workshops, camps, and classes. Additional programs include a bi-monthly community arts newsletter, an annual membership drive, and an annual fund raiser. RACA partnerships include the Rome International Film Festival, the Bach Festival Weekend, the Empty Bowls Project, the Clocktower Holiday Tour of Art Spaces, Contra Dances, Ninebark Press and many other community arts programs. RACA features programs by touring and local artists and seeks to reach all segments of the population.
