On Friday night around 9pm we had a Good Samaritan knock on our Director’s door with a puppy that they had found in the road on our hill. It was in between the really bad storms that we were having that day, the poor little guy was super skinny, absolutely COVERED in ticks, and he had a large cut in his ear. We couldn’t turn him away as they had nowhere to take him/couldn’t keep him even for the night and there were more storms coming soon. He is not microchipped, he had no collar/identification, he isn’t neutered, and by the shape he is in…I truly don’t think anyone is missing this sweet boy - but if you are please message us. We have vaccinated him, started him on flea/tick prevention, dewormed him, bathed him, got his ear taken care of and then we began trying to get as many ticks off of him as we can. Three days later, it’s STILL a work in progress. He has so many that are deeply embedded (we did give him meds that should make the ticks start dying and unattaching soon though) but he does not like us pulling them off of him and I don’t blame him. We did 4DX test him for heartworm and all of the tick borne illnesses, and it was negative so far however our protocol when dogs are covered this heavily in ticks - we retest them in 30 days and I’m pretty positive that he will test positive for at least one tick borne illness when we retest him. He appears to be young, maybe 6-8 months from his teeth but he could be a little older or he has just had really poor nutrition throughout his life so far. We have started him on some healthy puppy food and supplements to help get him back to a good healthy weight. While we are full and we really didn’t have much space for this sweet boy, we couldn’t turn him away. So now we need your help. We have named him Ramen 🍜 (like the noodles). He will need neutered, a rabies vaccine, another 4DX test, dewormed again, another two sets of vaccines, and bloodwork at least. That means we desperately need donations to help this cutie!
