Widows of Opportunity offers long-term and consistent support.This organization that was started in Columbia, SC with a network of four widows now has connected an average of 58 widows annually in the Columbia, SC area. The majority of widows range in age from 40-75, and represent the following backgrounds: 10% Asian, 10% Latino, 20% Caucasian, and 60% African-American. Most of these are in the state of South Carolina, with others served across the US. In South Carolina, most are in Richland County and greater Midlands area. Many are raising young children on their own with limited resources. Of the average 58 widows annually approximately 20% needs financial assistance. Widows of Opportunity provides assistance to widows in need with available resources.

Home Widows Of Opportunity Widows Of Opportunity MISSION Widows of Opportunity is dedicated to helping widows widowers and the bereaved achieve selfsufficiency become the leaders of their homesfamilies and move forward on a positive path after coping with their loss. GOALS The goal of our Grief and Loss workshop is to provide a safe place for widows widowers and the bereaved to explore and express their grief in a manner that is comfortable and healing in nature. Talking about grief with others who are also coping with the death of a spouseloved one often helps to reduce feelings of isolation and of not being understood. Groups offer an opportunity for persons to connect with others who get it.
