THE WORK PROGRAM OF METROPOLITAN AFFAIRS COALITION ("MAC") IS DRIVEN BY ITS COALITION OF BUSINESS, LABOR, GOVERNMENT, AND EDUCATION LEADERS; THIS COALITION IS DEDICATED TO EQUITY AND SUSTAINABILITY, CREATING ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY, IMPROVING QUALITY OF LIFE, AND PROMOTING REGIONAL COOPERATION IN SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN. THE WORK PROGRAM STRESSES DIALOGUE AND COLLABORATION, CONSENSUS BUILDING, AND PRACTICAL ACTIONS TO MOVE SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN FORWARD. MAC SEEKS TO IMPACT POLICY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ISSUES, AND BRINGS ITS UNIQUE COALITION PERSPECTIVE TO IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE REGION. MAC'S SPECIAL AFFILIATION WITH THE SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS ("SEMCOG") AFFORDS ACCESS TO OUTSTANDING RESEARCH, DATA, AND TECHNICAL EXPERTISE THAT PROVIDE A STRONG FOUNDATION FOR ITS WORK.

The Metropolitan Affairs Coalition (MAC) is a non-profit public/private partnership dedicated to enhancing the economic vitality and quality of life in Southeast Michigan. It was established to serve as a catalyst for regional change by bringing together leaders from business, labor, government, and education sectors.
History and Purpose
Founded in 1958, MAC has been a significant civic organization in the Detroit Region. Its work program is driven by a coalition of diverse leaders from various sectors, aiming to address regional issues collaboratively. MAC works closely with its partner organization, the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG), which provides expertise, research, data collection, and analysis.
