Are your cucumber plants blooming but not producing fruit? That’s normal early in the season! Cucurbit species like cucumbers, squash, and melons produce two types of flowers: one that makes pollen (male) and one that grows fruit after pollination (female). The male flowers usually open first, ensuring pollen is ready when female flowers appear. You can tell a female flower by the tiny fruit at its base.
