Rating Building Performance in Natural Disasters Our Vision: A world where we not only have a low impact on the environment, the environment has a low impact on us. We design quantitative, engineering-based rating systems that measure building performance in natural disasters. We certify and train design professionals to use the USRC building rating system. We empower building stakeholders to make resilient design decisions. We advocate for policies that promote consistent standards for and equitable access to disaster-resistant buildings. We partner with insurers, lenders and governments to incentivize owners who invest in resilient buildings.

Resilient Communities Need Resilient Buildings Most people lack reliable information about how disasters will affect the buildings in which they live and work. Our vision is a world where we have a low impact on the environment AND the environment has a low impact on us. We are guided by our E4 principle Engineering in the service of Equity the Environment and our Economy. The USRC is the leader in complementing green design with rating systems that measure resilient design to achieve sustainability.
