During International Nurses Day, we want to celebrate the nurses and medical providers who bring hope, strength and comfort to wish kids in Iowa. 🩺 When wish kid Libbi was 20 months old, she was diagnosed with cancer. Libbi underwent multiple surgeries, several rounds of chemotherapy, and radiation. On her 3rd birthday, Libbi returned to the hospital for what seemed like a routine chemotherapy appointment. But this time, a special surprise awaited her. As Libbi arrived, she was greeted by a room filled with balloons, decorations, and the most magical surprise: Libbi was going to receive a wish! 🌟 A huge fan of princesses, Libbi had dreamed of someday stepping into their enchanted world. She dressed up as her favorite characters for almost every hospital visit, and during treatments, she and her care team would sing along to princess songs, filling her with the joy and strength she needed to fight her illness. So, right away, she knew her heartfelt wish – to go to Walt Disney World®️ Resort! This #InternationalNursesDay, we’re honoring the compassionate nurses who go above and beyond to care for children with critical illnesses like Libbi. 🩺 Through it all, Libbi stayed hopeful – spending her hospital days dressed as her favorite princesses and singing songs with the nurses who helped bring her comfort and care during her toughest days. 💙 (fb)
