Adoption spotlight – Shadow! . Shadow is a 2 year old, shorthair Doxie. He is a lovable little guy who came to HTDR as an owner surrender. He’s great with small dogs and kids, but not a fan of cats. House training is a work in progress. He’s doggie door trained, kennel trained, and leash trained. He’s timid at first, but warms up quickly. Once he does, he’s very sweet and affectionate. He loves to climb up your chest and nuzzle into your neck for cuddles. He’s playful and loves crinkle or squeak toys. He enjoys chasing balls and playing with other dogs. He’s also a fearless little jumper—even with a ramp! . One of his eyes doesn’t produce tears, he’ll need someone who can give him eye drops throughout the day. This is a lifelong condition, but he handles it well with a little help. He uses a slow feeder and tends to bond more quickly with women. He has a mischievous streak, he loves tearing up paper and toilet paper when he gets the chance! . Shadow will thrive in a home with someone home more often than not, and who can keep up with his eye care. Ideally, with another playful dog to be his buddy. . From his foster family, “Shadow’s name fits him well. He’s a bit mischievous and will suddenly appear with tissues, towels and contents of your nightstand. He would make a good vermin hunter with his 4-wheel drive bear paws/claws. I’ve been training him with “gentle” so he treats his people with tenderness. He sleeps in a kennel so in the mornings he loves the zoomies. He’s good about letting you know when he needs his eye drops. He’ll rub the left side of his face into your chest, every 3-4 hours, whether he comes to you or not. He is one handsome boy!” .
