In March, Kat Bolstad ’01 returned from an Antarctic expedition where she had used a new camera system specially built to search for the elusive colossal squid. While she didn’t spot one on that voyage, on the day she left the ship, Dr. Bolstad learned about a recent video taken on March 9 from the South Sandwich Islands. With her help, the very first footage of a juvenile colossal squid swimming in the deep sea was identified. Learn more: (fb)

On April 9, the Wellesley community came together to celebrate the 40th anniversary of La Maison Française (the Wellesley French House). Sixteen students—14 from Wellesley and two from the University of Aix-Marseille —live in the French House each year, where they speak only French and take part in French cultural activities.
