🐘 With funding from the Wild Animal Health Fund, a team at the Oklahoma City Zoo conducted a pilot study to better understand how musth, a natural period of heightened hormones and behavior in male Asian elephants, may affect elephant health. Using five years of blood samples and health records from two male elephants, the team examined immune and stress markers to explore how musth impacts overall physiology.
