The concept of the Hundred Club originated in Detroit in 1950. It spread nationwide, leading to the establishment of numerous chapters across the United States. The Hundred Club of Genesee Shiawassee & Lapeer Counties was founded in 1975 by George Elges, then the general manager of Buick. Initially focusing on Genesee County, it expanded to include Shiawassee County in 1988 and Lapeer County in 2011.

Mission and Activities

The Hundred Club provides immediate financial assistance to the families of public servants who die in the line of duty. Within 24 hours, they deliver a check to help with immediate expenses. The organization also offers long-term support, such as mortgage payments, college tuition, and vocational counseling. Each year, it awards U.S. Savings Bonds to the children of deceased personnel until they reach the age of 18.

In addition to supporting families, the Hundred Club invests in safety-related equipment for local law enforcement and fire departments. Over the years, it has disbursed significant funds for safety equipment, including bulletproof vests and communication systems.
