Description

Transportation Engineers Association of Missouri

The Transportation Engineers Association of Missouri (TEAM) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the knowledge of transportation engineering and fostering education and communication among professionals in the field. The association plays a crucial role in promoting a quality transportation system that serves the public welfare of Missouri.

History

Originally known as the Highway Engineers Association of Missouri, TEAM has a rich history dating back to the early 1900s. Official bylaws were adopted on January 24, 1923. In 2003, to better reflect the diverse engineering disciplines involved in Missouri's transportation sector, the organization was renamed to Transportation Engineers Association of Missouri. Recent developments include the revision of its bylaws in May 2023.

Purpose

TEAM focuses on several key areas:

  • Advancement of Knowledge: The association works to enhance understanding and techniques in transportation engineering.
  • Education and Communication: It provides a platform for continued learning and dialogue among professionals, policymakers, and the public.
  • Public Welfare: TEAM aims to support the development of transportation systems that benefit Missouri's communities.

Governance

The governing board is central to TEAM's operations, acting as the executive committee. The board includes key leadership roles such as the president, president-elect, vice-presidents, immediate past president, executive secretary, and additional nominated members. This structure ensures effective management and strategic planning for the organization.

Activities and Events

TEAM organizes annual conferences, which serve as significant events for networking, exchanging ideas, and updating best practices in transportation engineering. These conferences are important forums for advancing Missouri's transportation infrastructure.

Recent Developments

In recent years, TEAM's conferences have seen high demand, with the 2025 conference selling out quickly. This underscores the importance of TEAM's role in facilitating collaboration and innovation within the transportation sector in Missouri.
