“I was one of the first patients after they opened the doors.” Meet Billie Smith—one of the very first patients at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center – Kearney. At 93 years old, he’s been visiting twice a month since the facility opened in December. Billie, who is from Elwood, Nebraska, has a rare form of skin cancer and enjoys visiting with other patients and the staff while he receives his treatments. “They bend over backwards to take care of you,” he says about his team. And how does he feel about the new facility? “It’s just a good place if you’ve got to be there.” Thank you to Billie and all the patients who have made Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center – Kearney their new home for hope, healing and extraordinary care.
