May 1857 Following this public notice sixty women answered the call and resolved thatThe ladies of Detroit unite in forming an industrial school for the benefit of the destitute children of the city. Two weeks later the Detroit Industrial School Association was formed. IRS 501 C3 OrganizationDonations are tax deductible .
