HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!! Today it has been 100 years since Stanley Chapman and his family celebrated opening night at what was originally "Chapman's Alician Court Theatre" now the Fox Fullerton. That's me! A lot has gone on in 100 years! Some good, some bad, but mostly good though! I've seen rowdy times, movie stars, depressions, wars, remodels, earthquakes, big movies (I really liked Mary Poppins and Star Wars!...pew,pew,pew) and little movies..(Oh yeah Rocky Horror too!🫦). I was sad when I thought everyone had forgot about me as I lingered on Spadra Blvd., (oh they call it Harbor now right), around 1987. Felt like forever! But in 2001, a bunch of wonderful volunteers and donors went to work and in 2004 a nice man (They call him "Clarence" like the angel from It's A Wonderful Life...I liked that one too!) came along with $1M and saved me from...gulp...the wrecking ball😬. Since then a lot of work has gone on getting this tough gal back to her old self. My bones are stronger with all the seismic work completed, I'm breathing fresh air with new HVAC systems and things are flowing with my new restrooms, heck even my lobby is looking better than ever! They still have a ways to go but everyone is working towards having more great events this year like that helluva, shindig, party they threw for me on Saturday! That was a gas! They say I will again be a great "entertainment venue" with music, movies, comedy, theatre, dancing and more! Sooo Cool! They're even planning the 10th the Day of Music Fullerton 2025erton 2025 on June 21st. Please come see me. I hope I can blow out 100 candles...that's a bunch!
