Meet Brianna Garvey, a Patient Relations Specialist at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center! Brianna and the Patient Relations team work with patients to make sure their experience is the best it can be while at the Medical Center. Sometimes the job can be a heavy one, so Brianna prides herself on always showing empathy to her patients. “In healthcare, you see so many scenarios on a daily basis and the one thing that remains constant is the importance of exercising empathy and the positive impact it leaves,” she says. “The most rewarding part of my job would have to be the positive lasting impressions I’m able to make whenever I assist patients and their family members. The appreciation that they express is second to none and I am honored to have made that impact on them.” When things get difficult, Brianna is grateful to count on her co-workers, who make a conscious effort to check in on each other and to be supportive. She also leans on her strong faith and remembering why she got into healthcare. “When things become overwhelming at work,” she says, “taking a step back for prayer and reflection can truly help you keep going.“ Outside the hospital, Brianna enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, swimming and taking on new adventures whenever she’s able to. We asked her what advice she would give to someone starting a new job.
