United Steel Workers Local 959 Representing the Union Employees of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company Fayetteville North Carolina Menu About Local 959 was originally chartered by the United Rubber Workers on December 10 1972. It became a United Steelworkers of Americalocal on July 1 1995 when the two unions merged. Today Local 959 representsapproximately 2000 workers at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber plant in Fayetteville North Carolina and is one of theregions largest union chapters. Local 959s mission is to bargain collectively on behalf of plant workers to increase wages and benefits raise their standard of living and ensure safe working conditions.
