For too many older adults in DC, that “main meal” may be the only nutritious one they have. 🍞 42% of seniors in DC are food insecure 💸 Food prices have risen over 22% since May 2020 ❤️🩹 Hunger increases the risk of chronic health issues—like asthma, diabetes, and heart disease—and its impact falls hardest on older adults who are Black, Hispanic, or Native American, who have lower incomes, or who have a disability. At Seabury, helping older adults access healthy food is a core part of our work.
