The Asian Culture Center of Tennessee (ACCTN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and celebrating Asian arts and cultures in East Tennessee. The center's mission is to create a welcoming community by sharing Asian arts and cultures, fostering unity, and promoting a healthy lifestyle among diverse cultural backgrounds.

Mission

The organization aims to enrich Knoxville's diverse community through various cultural programs, arts, and educational workshops. It strives to bring people together from different cultural backgrounds to promote peace, harmony, and unity, preparing today's children to become global citizens.

Programs and Initiatives

• Knox Asian Festival: The festival is a flagship event of ACCTN, celebrating Asian cultures and traditions. It features music, dance, food, fashion, handicrafts, and other products from participating countries and regions. The festival includes a "Passport Program," allowing attendees to explore different Asian cultures by visiting country booths and collecting stamps.
• Cultural Education: ACCTN offers educational programs aimed at fostering cross-cultural understanding and appreciation. These programs are designed to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between different communities.
• Community Engagement: The center is involved in various community projects, including the development of a Japanese garden and culture center in Knoxville. This initiative aims to boost tourism and the local economy while providing a space for cultural education and mental wellness activities.

Leadership

Kumi Alderman serves as the Executive Director of the Asian Culture Center of Tennessee. Ms. Alderman has experience as a tour conductor and has been instrumental in organizing the Knox Asian Festival over the past decade. She has received recognition for her contributions to cultural exchange and community service.

Vision

The ACCTN has a ten-year vision to establish itself as an educational nonprofit, offering diverse educational programs that affirm and celebrate the identities and heritage of Asian and Pacific Islander groups. This vision includes initiatives for cross-cultural exchange, intergenerational dialogue, and educational programming to create vibrant, healthy, and just communities.
