RISE is a national interdisciplinary research team and community of faculty, staff, students, and professionals committed to critical inquiry regarding systemic inequalities. We are making real efforts toward equity in education, health outcomes, and our society. Our work began in, and remains deeply connected to, education – both in formal schooling and in informal settings. The RISE community of scholars and activists is interdisciplinary in nature, and we are working for social justice and equity in a broad range of areas. The RISE research team is particularly focused at this time on issues of race/ethnicity, social class difference, gender and sexual identity, public health, disability issues, and the intersection among these factors.
