Sunflower of Peace

Overview

Sunflower of Peace is a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to provide critical medical and humanitarian aid to individuals affected by violence in Ukraine. Founded in 2014, it has been actively supporting those in need due to the ongoing conflict with Russia.

Mission & History

Sunflower of Peace was established in response to the need for support during the Russian-fueled violence in Ukraine, which began in 2014. Since its inception, the organization has focused on delivering essential medical equipment and humanitarian assistance. It has supported hundreds of medical workers in Ukraine by providing vital equipment and tools during times of scarcity. Additionally, Sunflower of Peace has constructed playgrounds for orphanages and contributed to a children's oncology center in Kyiv. It has also assisted organizations that serve adults with disabilities.

Following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Sunflower of Peace shifted its focus towards providing tactical medical aid to frontline medics. Thousands of backpacks and resupply kits containing first-aid kits, medications, and equipment have been sent to military hospitals.

The organization also fosters educational exchanges for Ukrainian geneticists and oncologists, working alongside Boston scientists to enhance diagnostics and treatments in Ukraine.

Vision

Sunflower of Peace envisions a Ukraine that is free, independent, democratic, and peaceful, where all individuals can thrive. Once Ukraine achieves victory, they will continue working towards this goal.

Operations

With a significant global network and volunteers in both the US and Ukraine, Sunflower of Peace identifies and fills critical gaps in medical, humanitarian, and psychological support. They operate under principles of transparency, accountability, agility, and collaboration.

Volunteers are at the heart of Sunflower of Peace's operations, making it a global movement that empowers supporters to make meaningful impacts in Ukraine.
