Broward County Community Development Corp. Broward Housing Solutions (BHS) offers quality permanent, affordable, and independent housing opportunities to meet the needs of lower-income or homeless individuals who also have mental illness. Through partnerships with area mental health providers, BHS also offers case management services to help these individuals maintain stable, affordable housing and, as a result, improved health. To ensure that its housing is truly affordable, BHS charges rent at 30% of each client-tenant’s monthly income, and all clients must have a form of income in order to live in a BHS property. BHS’ Affordable Housing programs address two major barriers to health and well-being for low-income individuals with disabilities and mental illness: stable housing and health management.
