Sam's Point Search and Rescue
Sam’s Point Search and Rescue (SPSAR Inc.) is a federally designated non-profit corporation made up entirely of volunteers, working under the direction of any Governmental agency charged with conducting searches in and around the land areas known as the Shawangunk Ridge in southeastern New York State. The “ridge” is made up of the contiguous lands of Minnewaska State Park (21000 acres), the Mohonk Preserve (7000 acres) and Sams Point Preserve (5000 acres). SPSAR Inc. is a member team of the New York State Federation of Search and Rescue Teams (NYSFEDSAR), and provides mutual-aid assistance to other Search and Rescue organizations throughout the State of New York. The focus of SPSAR is to train, maintain and equip a staff of backcountry specialists, and when called upon, can locate, treat, or recover, injured, lost or deceased persons in our area of operations. SPSAR members train regularly to respond to missions with four-season, day or night operating capability.
