Jessie, Judson’s sister, choreographed this dance piece to explore her own experience of grief and loss. Here is what she wrote about the piece: “I choreographed this piece with hopes to explore grief, especially after losing my brother Judson to a rare genetic disease when I was very young. Since he passed, I have realized that there are deep emotions involved in grief, lament, and loss, besides the most commonly known aspect of sadness. I have experienced confusion, anger, guilt, and loneliness, but also hope, fellowship, love, and beauty. I hope that as you watch my piece, you will be able to see the pain in loss, but also see beauty in grief. I want to tell my story through art, with hopes that it can impact and connect to people who have similar experiences. I also think we need to help those who haven’t experienced these things understand and empathize with other people’s loss, and I think art is a beautiful and poignant way to do that.
