Code X Inc

Code X Inc is a non-political, non-religious 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. It was registered in 2019, building upon its earlier educational pilot, Code for Palestine, which had been running since 2015. The organization focuses on empowering youth in fragile and conflict-affected regions by providing technology education, fostering global mentorship connections, and developing local tech sectors.

Mission

Code X aims to equip young people in regions affected by conflict with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing, technology-driven world. It achieves this through educational programs that emphasize STEM topics, entrepreneurship, and self-development. The organization works closely with local governments, nonprofits, and universities to enhance technological literacy and support domestic innovation, contributing to long-term resilience in these economies.

Programs

Code X offers a range of programs designed to meet the specific needs of the regions it serves. These programs include but are not limited to:

  • Code for Albania (Albania)
  • YouthCode-Gaza (Gaza)
  • Tech-Talent (Palestine)
  • Horizons Academy (Palestine)
  • Code for Cairo (Egypt)
  • Code for Ukraine (Ukraine)

These initiatives focus on teaching computer science, human-centered design, AI, ethics, and other critical skills. The organization has achieved significant success, with a competitive acceptance rate and graduates attending top universities around the world on scholarships.

Impact

Over the past eight years, Code X has taught over 1,000 students, accumulating more than 6,000 live classroom hours across three regions. The organization relies on volunteer instructors from Silicon Valley, who collectively contribute substantial amounts of time valued at over $1 million. The success of these programs has garnered attention from various media outlets and government bodies.

Leadership and Recognition

Code X was cofounded by Alex Fu and Taylor Sihavong. In 2025, its cofounders were featured in the Forbes North America 30 Under 30 list in the Education category, recognizing their efforts in expanding access and opportunities in education. The organization's board reflects a commitment to diversity and inclusive leadership practices, ensuring a diverse recruitment process for board members.
