Registering DONATE LIFE TEXAS IS TEXAS' STATEWIDE NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO HELPING TEXANS SAFELY AND SECURELY DOCUMENT THEIR OFFICIAL ORGAN DONATION DECISION. DLT MAINTAINS THE GLENDA DAWSON DONATE LIFE TEXAS REGISTRY THE STATE'S ONLY OFFICIAL TISSUE, EYE, AND ORGAN DONOR REGISTRY WHICH WAS ESTABLISHED BY THE 79TH TEXAS LEGISLATURE IN 2005. THE REGISTRY EMPOWERS INDIVIDUALS TO RECORD LEGALLY-BINDING CONSENT TO POST-MORTEM ORGAN, EYE, AND TISSUE DONATION FOR THE PURPOSES OF TRANSPLANTATION, EDUCATION, OR RESEARCH. IN ADDITION TO MANAGING THE REGISTRY, DLT IS A UNIFYING VOICE FOR DONATION IN THE STATE AND PROVIDES PUBLIC EDUCATION, INFORMATION, AND OUTREACH. WITH APPROXIMATELY 10,000 TEXANS AWAITING A LIFESAVING TRANSPLANT AND THOUSANDS MORE AWAITING TISSUE OR EYE DONATION, DLT WORKS TO SAVE AND IMPROVE LIVES BY ADDING PERSONNEL TO THE ACTIVE REGISTRY. DUE TO DLT'S ONGOING EFFORTS, ALMOST 14.7 MILLION TEXANS ARE NOW REGISTERED APPROXIMATELY 60% OF THE STATE'S POPULATION.
