French and Indian War Foundation Preserving and Interpreting the Colonial History of Virginia039s Frontier Home Welcome to French and Indian War Foundations Website Preserving and Interpreting the Colonial history of Virginias Frontier The French Indian War Foundation is an educational and historical organization guided in everything we do by our mission statement. We host a community interested in exploring the pivotal events of this era that helped to better prepare the colonists for their role in the American Revolution and the eventual founding of our nation. A young George Washington appointed Colonel of the Virginia Regiment in 1756 at the age of 24 was a central figure in these events. Washington built Fort Loudoun in Winchester VA for the Virginia Regiment and used it as his base of operations during his time in command from 1756 to 1758.
