THE INITIAL PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO ACQUIRE AND RESTORE THE BUILDING AND FURNISHINGS OF THE SILAS ALEXANDER SHARPE HOMEPLACE. THIS SITE IS A MID NINETEENTH CENTURY HOME SITE. THE ONGOING PURPOSE IS TO MAINTAIN THE HOUSE SITE FOR ART AND EDUCATION PURPOSES FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PEOPLE OF IREDELL COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA AND THE NATION.
