LMNGNO certified its first class of naturalists in the fall of 2012, marking the beginning of its efforts to foster a community of individuals dedicated to understanding and preserving Louisiana's diverse ecosystems. Since its inception, the organization has continued to grow, offering regular certification programs and community projects.

Certification Program

LMNGNO offers a comprehensive Master Naturalist certification program twice a year, during the spring and fall. This program provides participants with in-depth knowledge of Louisiana's natural history, including its flora and fauna, as well as the state's varied physiographic regions. The curriculum includes academic lectures and field workshops taught by experts in ecology, biology, geomorphology, and resource management.
