Camp Loucon Training and Retreat Center
As a ministry of the Kentucky Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church's camping and retreat ministry we Kindle Christian Community, Make Disciples, and to Develop Leaders. We desire to share the Love and Message of Jesus Christ with everyone so they may know God and experience the life God intends for them. We do this by;A. Being God Centered: Everything we do is designed to point others to God. Our activities are designed to build a safe and loving community where we can build real trust and have deeper conversations about God and His great love for us. B. Being Neighbor Driven: Each day we set out to reach each individual camper. We want to meet them where they are and pour into their life in a way that will meet their needs, strengthen their confidence, encourage them, build them up, and prepare them for the world to which they'll return. We want them to know who God made them to be, and the person of sacred worth God created in them.C. Being Growth Focused: Upon leaving we want every participant to have grown. We want them to have grown in trust, friendships, knowledge, confidence, and most importantly in their faith in Jesus Christ. We hope to prepare them to be a light in a dark world, to be instruments of love. We base our strategy upon Christ's explanation that the greatest commandment in Mark 22:37-40; "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the prophets hang on these two commandments."We want God to be first and to love our neighbor as ourself. We desire as our campers and guests leave that they would not only understand this truth, but that it would be a guide for how they live their lives. May they love God and others! That will transform the world and draw others into an amazing relationship with God!
